GREAT Campus
A park where you can live, work and research
Genoa’s future is being created in Erzeli: GREAT Campus, an ecosystem that is able to foster creativity and innovation.
What a Science and Technology Park is
An STP (Science and Technology Park) is an infrastructure with the objective of creating wellbeing for the community through the promotion of the culture of innovation and competition, the entrepreneurial initiative and the research institutions.
The STP:
- stimulate and manage the flow of knowledge and technology between the University, research institutes, businesses and the market;
- facilitates the creation and growth of businesses based on the incubation of innovation and the process of spin off;
- provides value added services together with high quality spaces and structures.
GREAT Campus is affiliated with APSTI and IASP
An ecosystem able to foster creativity and innovation
We created GREAT Campus because we believe that every entrepreneur’s mission should be to grow together with the community.
We chose Genoa because there are already the know-how and the high-tech companies that find in science parks a natural habitat for developing research, promoting excellence and boosting the production sector.
We studied the best international examples of Science and Technology Parks to distil and understand the factors that determine the success of a scientific park and creating a vibrant space that never sleeps: research centers, universities, office buildings, meeting and conference rooms and libraries. We have also added commercial services such as restaurants, sports facilities, living spaces and residencies, open outdoor parks, schools and daycare centers, parking, security and cultural and recreational places. We have asked the best designers to plan and create a new model of integration between open, outdoor areas and indoor, private and public spaces that give life to a new neighborhood in the city that is accessible, functional, lively, inclusive and well connected to social and urban networks.
We have invested our entrepreneurial know-how to give life to the largest STP in Italy and to improve the technological condition of our country.
HUMAN TECHNOPOLE ITALY
GREAT Campus represents one of the focal point of the innovation region between Genova and Milan, where is also being created the Human Technopole project (an initiative started in Genoa with the IIT project for Great Campus with expand and utilize the 2015 EXPO area in Milan). The project will carry out research in the field of genome medicine, big data, nanotechnology and genome nutrition. Starting in 2018, this will involve 1,500 researchers in Milan and another 700 already active in Genoa Morego, and another 300 that will have been working at Great Campus since 2017.

Who we are
The scientific park project at Erzelli in Genoa was initially created more than ten years ago, because of the vision of a few entrepreneurs from Genoa and Milan that, at the same time, founded the Genova High Tech S.p.A company, the driving force behind GREAT Campus (Genoa Research & Advanced Technology Campus)
Currently 25% of the GHT’s shares mostly belong to the group of entrepreneurs that started the company and 75% to the companies Leonardo Technology S.p.A with Banca Garige, Intesa Sanpaolo, Coop Liguria, Prometeo Srl, Aurora Costruzioni, Talea SpA and EuroMilano SpA. The only financial sponsor of the group is BANCA CARIGE, which is the largest bank in the region and believes in the project and in its ability to provide employment in the territory.
Genova High Tech SpA (GHT) was started as a private, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial initiative that saw the solution to accelerate the inherent Italian creativity within industry, universities and research centers. This was done to give a solid foundation to research and industry here in Genoa and in the whole country and to carry our city into a second glorious industrial phase where heavy industry is substituted with cerebral industry. The creation of the Campus is the natural accelerator of this goal: the place where one can physically encounter experienced, “cerebral” people and to attract well renowned companies and research centers and to utilize the resulting chain of creative ideas in the process of innovation and creation of technological products for the market. .
GHT is a lean and efficient company with professional, high profile employees that can take care of the whole science park project, not only from the strictly urbanistic and constructive point of view but also from the conceptual and developmental side as well. These professionals have already demonstrated their abilities with similar successful projects. GHT also resorts to high level consultants for special projects aimed to keep the Park up to date for the next 20 years.
History
Great Campus is currently the largest project for urban requalification in the city of Genoa. This project covers an area of more than 300,00 square meters that were being used as a strategic area for the storage of shipping containers, creating an uninhabited area that was a barrier to development between the neighborhoods of Cornigliano and Sestri Ponente.
40 million euros of private funds have already been invested in infrastructure and roads to create a new urban space on the border between two neighborhoods, a green public park with more than 220,000 square meters and integrated services with the existing public networks. A hub that represents the natural expansion of the two neighborhoods, with a deep interest in giving Genoa new working opportunities and to repopulate the city with you researchers , students and managers, without any physical separation between the eastern and the western side of the city.
